En Afrique centrale, les Dìì du Nord-Cameroun le réduisent en poudre pour constituer une potion aux vertus censément fortifiantes, où entrent d’autres ingrédients, comme le cœur de lion, bue durant la cérémonie de circoncision, transmettant la virilité d’une génération d’hommes circoncis à l’autre¹⁹.
